Situated in the heart of St Vincent and the Grenadines on Canouan Island is this lovely beachfront oasis. It has just 40 rooms surrounded by tropical gardens on a long white sand beach and provides a lively atmosphere in a stunning location. With a total of three square miles, Canouan Island is one of the larger of the 32 islands that comprise St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Canouan is set about half way down the island group which drape like a watch chain between St. Vincent and Grenada. The Tamarind Beach Hotel Resort is located on a sweep of reef protected beach that has the effect of creating a giant, salt water swimming pool. The water is the focus of activities at the resort. Sailing, windsurfing and snorkeling are included in the room rate. At the Tamarind, 43 newly renovated beachfront guestrooms, tastefully decorated with a tropical garden feel, provide breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. The other three buildings contain the 48 guest rooms and one of the best suites has a huge wonderful designer bathroom with views out to sea from the bath.

For elegant dining with a view of the sea, the Restaurant Palapa features Caribbean cuisine with such specialties as grillafes of fish, as well as European specialties prepared by a French chef.The Pirate Cove provides an al fresco setting to enjoy an afternoon tea, or tropical drinks day or night. Live music is a feature at the Pirate Cove on a regular basis. Le Drug Store and Ice Cream Parlor offer an assortment of tropical and Italian ices. Barbecues are a regular feature. Intentional themed dinners are a weekly occurrence, featuring Italian, French and Oriental menus on a rotating basis. Barbecues are a regular feature.

The resort attracts honeymooners and also offers full wedding programs available, providing everything from marriage ceremony to honeymoons.

Protected by a natural mile long coral reef, the waters around Canouan Island are perfect for water sports especially snorkelling and scuba diving. For those who aren't quite so energetic, there are five pristine white beaches, which were just made for relaxing! Mauhalt, a wonderful deserted beach is the perfect spot for a secluded picnic and turtle watching.

Bicycles and pedalos are available for those who wish to explore the island. Mount Royal, the highest point on the island, offers panoramic 360- degree views of the whole of St Vincent & the Grenadines and is particularly worth a visit. Alternatively, for the more adventurous, the Tobago Cays can easily be explored with prior arrangement.

The Cays have been declared a wildlife reserve by the government and offer you the opportunity of swimming and snorkelling in complete isolation. Canouan's enviable location provides some of the best sailing grounds in the world.
