Canouan, Carib for "island of turtles", is the third largest in the chain of the Grenadines islands. It covers 3 square miles, and approximately 1,165 people live here. A decade ago this was a sleepy island that only adventurers and yachtsmen knew about.
The boot-shaped, reef encompassed emerald gem now has three resorts on its white sandy shores. A short boat ride to the paradise of the Tobago Cays and Mayreau’s Salt Whistle Bay makes Canouan a ‘dropped of the edge of the world’ luxury destination. From the visitor’s point of view there have always been spectacular beaches, great views, and lovely walks almost everywhere. Now the island is not only beautiful, but exciting and above all else, very luxurious.
